Vintage German Wendt&Kuhn Erzgebirge Expertic Folk Art Wood Christmas Angel Trio

  
Thus is a hard to find complete set of vintage Erzgebirge Expertic Christmas angels in near mint condition! This heavenly trio of angels stands 5 tall to the tips of their wings. They are made from carved and turned pieces of wood, and hand painted in rich glossy colors. Each is accented with gilded details, both on their wings and their regal garments. Two blondes and a brunette, the winged beauties wear their hair in pigtailsa signature look for the Erzgebirge angels and children.

Delicate brass halos encircle the heads of the heavenly beings. One prays in ernest, another heralds the coming of the Christ child, while a third sings praises for her sheet music. These wonderful, whimsical pieces of wooden folk art have been made in the Erzgebirge forest region of Germany for over a century. This vintage set dates from 1979 to 1987, as evidenced by the red and white Erzgebirge Expertic factory labels with the German Democratic Republic designation.

The red square sticker was used in 1980 only, I believe. It is rare to find this set in such wonderful condition! They are near mint, with just a couple of the tiniest paint flakes along the edge of 3 of the wings in the back, and a couple of teeny flakes on the edge of the red cape, again, in the back. The sheet music the red angel holds is not the original music, but a carefully crafted facsimile that faithfully honors the original.
