Antique Pincushion Doll, Half Doll, Germany, Porcelain Miniature Doll, Figurine

  
This listing is for a STUNNING and quite rare antique porcelain pincushion half doll. This half doll comes from my private collection. She is considered a large half doll and is 5 inches tall. She is an "arms-away" style half doll. I can not be sure of the maker but who ever manufactured this piece did an exceptional job as you can clearly see from the photos.

Her bodice is extremely well detailed and entirely hand painted. She has been poured in the finest quality white porcelain. Her bodice features hand painted gold gilt accents and decorations. She holds a rose in each hand and just as the roses in her hair are tipped in gold so are those in her hands. An absolutely beautiful and stunning half doll.

A heavy piece with good weight and the base is poured with a small air hole in the center to allow gases to escape during firing. She has been entirely hand painted and is exceptionally well done. Her hair has hand painted lined detailing and is a light grey. This lovely half doll wears a flower crown on her head made from hand made porcelain flowers. Each rose petal is tipped in Gold gilt as is each hand made leaf.

There are a two rose petals that have small chips to them. Please see next to last photo. That is the only defect on this entire piece and it is barely noticeable.

I had to search and search. It in no way takes away from the beauty of this piece and considering that this lovely lady is over 100 years old that is to be expected. She has been in my family for a very long time. My Grandmother was a very serious collector of half dolls and I inherited the love for them as well. My Grandmother had duplicates of so many simply because over the years as she collected and her collection grew and grew, she tended to forget what she owned.

I think her reasoning on this was when she was out looking for more to add to her collection..... She could never part with them, even if she already had the same half doll.

She was a master seamstress and often times she would make them into a pincushion if she had duplicates. Many she used in her sewing room. Many have been packed away in steamer trunks and these beauties are far too pretty to not be seen and enjoyed. This doll has been lovingly cared for and comes from a smoke free home.
