Antique German Rococo Style Porcelain Figurine. Cherubs/ Waterwell. 29.5-cm Tall
ANTIQUE GERMAN ROCOCO STYLE PORCELAIN FIGURINE. A large antique figurine of a water-well being visited by three cherubs.
Very intricately and heavily detailed, the floral growth is perfect, without any flaws, or damage anywhere. Cherubs are near the top rank of angels and attend to the service of God, also protecting earthly sites of significance with their young mischievous masculine presence. Appearing often throughout renaissance artwork they symbolize the divine, youth, life, and celestial importance. Each cherub holds an object in his right hand (a cup for drinking fresh well-water). The well may symbolize a "fountain of youth or health"--type water source.
