Rare Vintage Rosenthal Hand-Painted Snail Figurine: Signed A Caasmann. This Rosenthal hand-painted porcelain snail was designed in 1923 by Albert Caasmann and has the very faint "A Caasmann" signature marked on the side of the white platform on which this sweet snail is sitting. I haven't seen any signatures on the few Rosenthal snails advertised in other online marketplaces or auctions, and no signatures have been mentioned in descriptions. This rare piece has muted tones of pale blue, beige, and gray tones with cream-colored details along the snail's neck. The bottom is marked with the Rosenthal brand mark and indicates that it's handmade.

You'll see that is labeled "As Is", because unfortunately, this piece is not perfect- the snail's eyes are broken. But they still look like eyes to me! The good news is still that this rare piece is signed. This lovely snail weighs 4.4 ounces and sits on a platform measuring 3 ½" long by 1 ¾" wide.

The piece is 2 ¼" to the top of the snail's shell, and the shell itself is 1 ¾" wide. The height to the top of the "eyes" is 1 7/8.
